SRM Team and CFHS new training course on Basic Medicine Awareness

This 2 hour course aimed at school staff who have responsibility for managing medicines, usually reception staff is being run in partnership between Surrey County Council and Children and Family Health Surrey. The course trainer is Jenny Brandon Clinical Trainer for Children’s Services and CFHS.

The training is initially being offered to SCC maintained schools and academies who buy back the SRM health and safety offer and sessions will be delivered across the county.


Course content:
Be able to define what a medicine is
Understand the legal requirements for supplying and administering medicines
Have enough knowledge to safely store, handle and administer medicines
Understand the different routes for administration of medications
Have knowledge of the signs and symptoms suggesting possible side effects
Know what a medicines incident is and what to do
Know who to contact for advice or information

 

 

The first course will be at the Thameside Centre, Wyatt Road, Staines, TW18 2AY on Monday 11 November 2019 and is limited to one delegate per school (subject to demand).
 
Delegates can choose to attend a morning (10-12) or afternoon (1-3) session.

 

Further courses in the Woking/Guildford and Leatherhead areas are being planned for 2020.
