Admissions service for own admission authority schools - 2019/20
Whilst Surrey’s admissions team has a statutory duty to coordinate applications and allocations
for Reception, Year 3 and Year 7 as part of the normal admissions round, own
admission authority schools are responsible for applying their admission
criteria, ranking their list of applicants and maintaining a waiting list. However,
schools can buy in to the service offered by Surrey’s admissions team that
provides for the admissions team to carry out these tasks on the school’s
behalf during the 2019/20 academic year, in relation to September 2020
admission. If schools buy
in to the admissions service for the normal admissions round, Surrey’s admissions
team will also process in year applications on the school’s behalf during the
2019/20 academic year at no extra cost.
In addition, schools can opt in to use Surrey’s Centrally Managed in year application (CMA) form free of
charge. This means that parents need only have one initial point of application
for in year admission, ie the local authority, rather than having to apply to
different schools individually and thereby having to complete a number of
forms. This will help the Admissions team be
more effective in resolving placements for children who are out of school and
to ensure that our mutual safeguarding responsibilities are met.
