Using psychology to put children and young people first
We have access to the richness of skills, knowledge and experience of a whole team of dedicated and highly professional Educational Psychologists, and are able to draw upon this resource to best serve the educational settings we support.
We have strong local knowledge of schools and local services, understanding of our local communities and longstanding relationships with schools, partner agencies and families.
The Educational Psychology Service contributes to the formation and development of the special educational needs processes and provision across Surrey. This means that we have extensive, up to date knowledge regarding the criteria for statutory assessment and interventions recognised and regarded as good practice by our Local Authority.
As a service we are in a unique position to carry out the whole range of statutory, core and traded Educational Psychology work that an educational setting may require.
As part of our multi-agency ethos, we have ready access to other local support services and we work in close partnership with colleagues across Education, Social Care, Health and Early Years.
Our records are securely held within Surrey County Council premises and data bases. We adhere to Surrey County Council’s policies and procedures, including information sharing and safeguarding standards. We all have enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Checks and are all registered to practise by the Health and Care Professions Council.
The Educational Psychology Service provides co-ordinated continual professional development opportunities for our Educational Psychologists to keep their skills and knowledge up to date.
We provide regular, ongoing support and supervision to all our Educational Psychologists which maximises our capacity to meet our professional practice guidelines as set out by the Health Care and Professions Council.
As Educational Psychologists, we are trained to work on a number of different levels within school from individual case work, to group-led interventions for pupils to training and problem-solving at a whole school level. The wide range of services that we offer is outlined below but is described in detail in our Surrey Educational Psychology Service Traded Brochure.
